Juan Manuel Mata, the father of Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, said that the Red Devils had finally offered his son a new contract at the club.
Mata Senor, a businessman and a football agent, also said that his son has other options from the Champions League clubs.
“Manchester United offered to renew us, we are very pleased,” said Juan Manuel Mata Cadena SER.
“But there are proposals from the teams of the Champions League.
"Maybe in Spain, but today is not a day for talking, it has not yet been decided."
"City? It will not be an ideal option," he added.
“There are two options that do not [appeal]: Liverpool and City.
"We have to respect the fans of Manchester United, he is very expensive here."
Mata's contract with Man United expires at the end of the season.
The 30-year-old has scored 44 goals in 215 matches for Manchester United since joining Old Trafford in January 2014 from Chelsea.
